BCBA Position at the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism

JOB DESCRIPTION

I. TITLE: Behavior Consultant/Board Certified Behavior Analyst

II. JOB SUMMARY:

The Behavior Consultant will be a staff member of the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism. The major focus of this position is to provide education, training and direction for families, clients and other professionals in the areas of behavior supports, ABA assessment and program development, establishing learning goals, functional analysis of behaviors, and the development of appropriate means of communication. This position will directly report to the Director of the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES:

            Essential Functions:          

  1. Perform functional behavioral assessments for clients.
  2. Develop behavior plans to assist clients to be successful at home, school and in the community.
  3. Provide training to parents and staff on the implementation of behavior plans.
  4. Monitor the implementation of behavior plans and modify plans when needed.
  5. Provide training for families and professionals in the area of Applied Behavior Analysis, Positive Behavior Supports, environmental  modifications and other accommodations.
  6. Provide direct therapy for clients at the Center, at home or in other environments as needed.
  7. Provide consultation and training for area schools and provider agencies in the area of behavior supports
  8. Develop and conduct a training series for parents and professionals on topics related to the general topic of autism and more specific topics such as behaviors, increasing communication, toilet training etc.
  9. Develop the Center’s  resource materials relating to behavior and communication
  10. Provides training and direction to Logan staff  regarding client behavior, intervention strategies, program development, etc.
  11. Work as a team member to develop and enhance the services provided by the Autism Center.
  12. Work in cooperation with the Center’s community partners: The University of Notre Dame, Memorial Hospital, Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, area school corporations.
  13. Assist in marketing, and promoting the on-going financial sustainability of the Behavior Consulting services of the Center.

General Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the health & safety of individuals served
  2. Represent  LOGAN in a positive way in the community
  3. Serve as an advocate & protect the dignity & human rights of individuals served
  4. Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit & use computer keyboard

Ability to kneel, bend, & reach

Ability to life 50 lbs

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Master Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Behavior Management

Strong knowledge of & experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders & other developmental disabilities

Excellent ability to communicate with families and other professionals

Experience developing and conducting trainings for various audiences.

     Certification as a BCBA – Board Certified Behavior Analyst
